Blog

The Ranger Diaries blog has now shifted in a slightly different direction to previous years in the form of a shorter, more habitual and traditional diary entry. This format gives me the platform to share more nature stories in real time. Visit my diary - get inspired by nature and join me on a journey through the seasons.

Of course, you can still peruse all of my former, more extensive writings below by exploring the blog archive or simply by searching for the topic of your choice.

Spring Revival

Nick Wilson-Smith May 12, 2021

“The woodland rides were swarming with Red Campion, Greater Stitchwort, Forget-Me-Nots, Violets and White Dead-Nettle. Blankets of viridescent Dog’s Mercury as far as the eye can see and the smell of Ramsons and Hedge Mustard in the air was unmistakeable.”

Dipping into Spring

Nick Wilson-Smith March 22, 2021

“A truly wonderful bird to watch, the Dipper gets its name due to the little ‘dipping’ dance that it will regularly display. This is a bird that can literally walk underwater, and this is just one of the many reasons why they are my favourite.”
